In Testing, the Fram filters met or exceeded taking your oil out every week and running a gravy strainer through it.

I have not personally seen one destroy a motor, but I think others have.

The filters are cheaply made using glued on cardboard ends on the filter element, all quality filters use metal end caps.

The cardboard end caps have been known to fail, sending filter material into the engine oil system (there is a known problem with this on the Ford 4.6 engine, resulting in a technical service bulletin due to clogged oil passages in the cylinder heads).

My opinion is that the Fram filters failed because they were not changed at the proper interval, and that is what caused the failures.

But I don`t care, I`m not using a cheaply made filter that costs as much as a well made filter, even on a lawn mower.

There are plenty of choices for quality oil filters for Harleys.

Harley OEM filters are as good as any.

Wix, K&N and Mobil 1 are also good choices.

If you ever cut a fram open you'll never buy another one.

I have been running Fram filters for 55 years in all the vehicles I have owned. Never had a problem and do not know of anyone else having a problem. They do the job. What more do you want. Wix are also great filters. You just don't sell a bad product for many many years without it coming back to bite you. If Fram was as bad as you say it is they would have been gone long ago.
