Default Mystery Fork Bracket

Never seen one of these, but then....I've never seen a lot of things. This bracket appears to serve no functional purpose other than to give the appearance of two studs like are used to tighten the pinch-bracket on the RH side of the axle. The studs are fake and the bracket is held in place by the axle-nut. The subject bike is a 98 RK Classic Anniversary.

I think you're right. It looks like a "fake" set of studs and nuts to make the left side fork slider look like the right.

Now I've seen everything.

It could have previously held some dumb a$$ chrome cover would be my guess. Or like the above post some dumb a$$ bracket to mirror the pinch bolts on the opposite side.

Could it have mounted a brake rotor cover at one time?

One of these suggestions is likely correct. Rotor covers seem plausible (dumb-a$$ cover even more so), but if I want a Honda...I'll go get a Honda. It certainly serves no purpose other than mimicking the studs on the RH side. I think I'll leave it on there to make people ask questions....like I did.

It'll certainly be a useful test of observation for those who claim to know their Harleys! What we need now is a close-up of someone's rotor cover, for confirmation......

Thanks for starting this thread. I've been for this RPG fork mount for a long time. Now... where did you find it? Will you part with it? Look out distracted cagers!

It's the rotor cover mount, as you can see I removed the ones on my bike before I ever rode it.....
I did the same thing with the ones that were on a 1976 Goldwing that I bought, took them off and threw them into the medal scrap bin....
