Default 6 speed?

Thinking about a six speed for my tour glide.
I'm running a Andrews ev27 cam with open air cleaner.
Enough power to pull the bike in sixth? Worth it?

Overdrive 6 speed? Give the guys at Baker a call, they're the experts. Off hand I would say a loaded E-Glide with the stock 80" motor, even with a mild cam, isn't going to like a 14% or 20% overdrive.

the 6speed DD would work just fine the OD might be to much for your bike. call baker and ask them if anyone would know it would be them.

A sprocket change might be something to look into and is a lot cheaper.

Are you trying to lower rpm's on the interstate or improve mpg? What is the goal?

I will never understand why people think you need more horsepower for 6 speed OD trans...it is just not true. OD is only for reduced RPMs on the highway for more comfort...if you need to pass a truck you simply downshift. One of bakers most popular OD 6 speeds is designed for knucks, pans, and shovels...not exactly powerhouse motors. I run a baker 6 OD with a EVO and a mild cam and it is hands down the best mod I have ever made to the bike.

If you call Baker as I did when I had money and was thinking about it you will find that they recommend a DD 6 for your set up.
You will have to buy a different sprocket and primary chain to get 6th gear from 1-1 to .86-1.

If I ever get back to having money again that is the path (as recommended by Baker) that I will go just for the fun of it.

I want to lower my rpm's on the freeway. Better mpg would be appreciated as well.

I was actually thinking of going with a Rivera primo. They seem to have good reviews and at less than half the price of a Baker it seems like a no Brainerd.

If your bike is pre-94, you may get what you want by changing the primary guts to 94 and up specs. Even just getting a compensating sprocket with one more tooth makes a pretty big difference. Might even get away with the same primary chain. Takes a bit of research, but cheaper than any transmission.

There is a reason Baker costs what it does.
I learned a long time ago not to skimp out on parts or tools.
When I did I always regretted it later.

That said I agree with Owtlaw.
Changing your gear ratio is much easier and costs way less.
