I'm sure this has been answered already but a search brought back so much stuff I was getting confused. Please don't flame me too bad. Feel free to point to other informative posts.
I have an 06 Softail Deluxe. I want to install the Samson Big Guns3 Cannon pipes and probably an HD Stage I air cleaner kit. To get everything in sync after that I planned on the SERT. That's where I get lost. First I saw one mention that HD is planning to stop production of the SERT due to EPA or some such crap. Is there any truth to that? Second, my dealer does not recommend the PC line of products. I still have a lot of warranty left and don't want to void that. So if I cannot use the PC, and HD stops making the SERT, HOW do I tune my bike with aftermarket pipes????
BTW, I planned to do as much of the work as possible. I was hoping that I could find a good map for my combination of parts since I do not have a dyno.
I am installing the DTT, don't know about easiest...gone into sensory overload reading the instructions, but have reread them a couple of times and starting to understand just how it works. Be prepared to read litlle, and dont be afraid to ask for help if you go with it, there are a few on this forum that have installed it and swear by it (Bryan).
I will say that it will compensate for most anything you do, and the way some of us change parts, cams, mufflers, AC etc, it only makes sense to go with a closed loop system like the DTT. Eliminates dynoing everytime you make a change, also compensates for altitude, barometric pressure, and other variables.
This is what I have been talking about. The sert is something they only make for 20 bikes or so per dealership. The power commander is not even covered under warranty and most people here say it sucks. The fuel pak doesn't sell. I am going to run V&H pipes starting Tuesday without any fuel management system since my mechanic told me it was fine. (he is a licensed Harley mechanic). You will know soon!!!
You will get more response to this in the softail or general discussion forums. Some say "why did you post this there?" But I just say you get more response. Way More!
