SUSPECT CARB PROBLEM
Has anyone ever experienced the following:
05 heritage, 88b, carburated, 29,000 miles with no problems other than those caused by "trained" mechanics and fixed by me.
I was approx. 120 miles into my weekly commute along I-5, cruising along at roughly 70 with my little trailer behind which had really no load in it.I was about half way up a gentle grade when the engine started to loose power; i nursed it to the top and pulled over.It would idle reasonablynormal so i sat there for about 5 minutes idling then took off. A couple miles down the flat and level road it kind of acted like it was flooding out or starving. Pulled over, let cool a little, pulled the plugs and found okay, pulled the air cleaner and started it up so i could watch the air slide and accelerator and all looked normal.Buttoned back up and started; finished trip for last 30 mileswhich was just like nothing had ever happened. The last two mornings it's made it to work asusual and i even got on it fairly hard with no problems. I always run the HD fuel additive in every other tank fillup.The day before the trip i change engine oil filter and oil from HD to mobil 1 v-twin 20/50and the only thing different i did during the change was cycle out the HD oil before installing new filter.
Anyone got any ideas? this weekend i will pull fuel **** out and check filter and basic other checks.
