Default 1997 road king exaust

Can anybody tell me what the part number is for the stock exhaust on a 1997 road king is? Also can anyone tell me what this exhaust might be? I want to switch back to the dual pipes under the bags rather then have both on the same side. 1997 road king exaust-img_2788.jpg

There are many parts to the exhaust system. I don't think they're sold as a unit.
You can look it up here:

That exhaust is sold in like 8 or 9 different pieces, 3 separate header pieces, plus the heat shields (3 or 4?) plus the slipons separate. It would be cheaper to just buy a full aftermarket set, headers and all.

But if you want to go all stock, your best bet is to find a used "take-off" set from someone who is upgrading their own exhaust. You have a ton of options because I don't think that exhaust changed from like 1995 to 2008, if I remember correctly, so a even set of headers from an 06 Road King or something would fit. Your dealership probably even has some kicking around.

Good choice to change back though, that setup is ugly as hell!

The exhaust that's on it is just not road king style in my opinion. I had saw some stock exhausts on e-bay, but they only give one part number. So I have no idea if it will fit my bike or not. All I know is it has to have duals under the bags.

Refer to post number #2.
The forum member gave you a link to a parts look-up.
You enter the year and model and then you are able to see diagrams and part numbers for your motorcycle.
It will provide you with detailed diagrams of all the parts required, their part numbers and a price.
It is an excellent piece of information and should allow you to better understand your situation.
Plus you can then check other years and models in the touring line that might have the same part number.
Then you can google the part number to see clear color pictures.

I guess I am just missing it. When I look up the parts on the link it shows many different part numbers. When these people are listing them on e-bay and places there listing them as a full system with one part number. So I guess I will give up trying to buy one off of e-bay.

Could you show us an example link? I'm sure we could help identify whether they'll fit or not.

Those listings could be a mistake, but I know when I needed to replace the Y-pipe on my header it was a single part number (65626-07B) and it was something like $250 just for that. The left rear header that branches off that Y-pipe was part number 65627-07 and was another $75, and I'm not sure on the front header but bank on at least another $100, and that's all without heat shields or mufflers.

But fire us a link from eBay and we'll let you know if they'll fit, someone here will know. Basically anything off a Road King from 95-08 should fit, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

But it's moot, they won't fit your RK without some modifications.

You're looking for something that looks like that, with a Y-shaped pipe that goes under the seat (not under the frame). But again, that whole system represents something like 10 different part numbers, unfortunately you're not going to find what you're looking for by searching a part number alone.
