anyone know if I can weld a supertrapp adjustable end cap to the opening of a regular FXDL exhaust?
The 5 holes originally meant for screws to go through will be allowing air flow to pass through.
Just concerned if they are adequate enough to let gas flow, I would not want to explode my bike
Why I'm doing this?
Main thing is sound control. And also to block the view of the exhaust internals since I cleared it out making it completely illegal in my side of the planet.
You will need much more than those five holes for the exhaust to get out of! Supertrapp make mufflers similar in appearance to stock FXDL ones, complete with their stacking baffle system. Why not buy a pair and adjust to your preferred noise level?!
I'd like to keep stock pipe on for keeping stock pipe on (look and also serial)
So what is going to happen if I weld it to the end with just 5 holes?
Not entirely sure, however consider the area of the hole in a normal tailpipe and the area of those five holes. Your engine won't be able to breath and will probably not run much above idle. It will probably need a decent sized hole in the centre of the disc so it can run and let you ride.
