Default Noise difference between 883 and TC88

Just picked up an '05 883 for momma, stage one, 2500 miles. Upon riding it, I noticed a very distinct difference in engine noise. I can't tell where exactly it comes from, but the sporty seems to have a lot of valvetrain noise compared to my TC88. Not like a clicking tappet noise, but like a whirring noise. Not a bearing screach. Runs fine, and I don't think there is anything wrong with bike. I suspect it is normal noise for Evo, but nothing to compare it to except my TC88. It has fresh oil (dino), correct level. It is not coming from trans or transfer as I can pull in clutch and rev engine while rolling and it is directly connected to engine rpm, not wheel speed. Maybe I'll switch to syn Mobil One next oil change and see if it makes a difference in noise. Can you guys with more experience in both engines help me out here?

You got 4 gear driven cams in the sporty, it will be a little noisier!

I have the '05 883L - makes a lovely ticking noise constantly and drives me nuts!! And its more noticable when I have the detach windshield on. But seemingly its normal, so I just think of it as part of its charm.

I love my bike. Tick away baby.

Ahhh, thanks Reese, that explains it. I just have to get used to it being different. I just read up on the maint. etc, (burping the oil drain tube). Lots that's unique to this engine. Guess I need another service manual.
