Default Adding cubes to engine.

I'm interested in installing the Edelbrock RPM kit for an EFI on my Night Train. Due to the larger pistons, can my current stock jugs be bored/honed to work or do I need to buy new ones too? Anyone running the RPM kit? They claim 108hp at the wheels with it. Should be able to notice a different over stock. LOL

Not to burst your bubble but the claimed number is one they came up with. I have seen this kit and installed several most are 100/100. They are also a mid to upper number set up. Meaning that unless you like to rev the bike and are ok with two gear down shifts I would look else where for a package. Not to mention there are several way to get great low to mid range on less money. Also they use rectangle ports ( why it is a upper rpm kit/head) so gaskets and manifold parts are all there own. Not really a stocking item for many shops, so engine work or repairs are a planned out item not very realistic in the real world. Break downs will kill you as you will have to order the parts.

You failed to mention your ride, I would be happy to give you a few ideas on a package that would fit your bill and save you some CASH!!!!

David,
Check out WISECO and give their Tech Support a call (East coast or Left coast). I have used their products in various motorcyles, cars, trucks, jeeps, etc. and they are top notch!! As long as you keep it under 100 cu in (i.e. 95) you don't need to re-sleeve. Do you have the Screamin Eagle module?

Thanks for the replies. I really appreciate the info on the Ebock kit too as I wasn't aware of that. Here is my setup and performance mods to date:

2002 HD Night Train
Vance & Hines Big Radius pipes
Power Commander
Kuryakyn black krinkle Hypercharger with a K&N filter

I am finishing installing these items this weekend and plan to test the A/F ratio after remapping the ECU. Basically I am wanting to up my HP/TQ for the fun meter and since I normally ride with a passenger onboard. I like the 1550cc kits. I'm open for any recommendations from those here. I'm not looking for a high rpm range. Something within the cruising/passing range is fine.

Sounds good. Where do I get my stock heads ported? Do I need to upgrade the valves or spings too? Where are you located?

Well today I talked to a local shop (not a HD one) about this. They cater to the HD crowd. He too recommended the 95" Big Bore kit, Andrews 37g cam and port work on my stock heads. He knew of a very good company for the port work. Cost of the heads were around $1,100 and install labor of the whole thing was under $400. Said it would take him 7 hours to do the job and to expect 120+ hp at the wheels. I now know what my Christmas present will be! Thanks.

120+ HP on that 95 setup is a lot high I would think. On a good tune you might get 100/105.

Sounded a bit high to me too. Anything over 100 would keep a smile on the face.

120+ heck I should have him do all my builds!!! Sounds too good to be true, there are 95 that make that but not with that cam. Normal numbers for a 95 with decent head work and a 37 are 95/95 on a avarage day. There are better numbers and worse but you are hard pressed to tell the difference between 96 and 100 on tq or hp.

I keep saying this and the real story is in the low rpm range and look at the tq there peak numbers mean nothing you are at the peak rpm for a very short time but spend most of your time in the 1800-3500 range look there for tq = real world use. Unless of course you are building a drag bike for the track then look at the peak numbers.

My kits make in the mid 90's on both with a easy going laid back set up. With a 98 inch kit the tq comes on strong from the bottom end and pulls nicely all the way through.

Mac WHere you at, you have this kit tell them how it runs. Lets keep it under a 110 ok LOL
