End caps- purpose?

End caps- purpose?

Are they just for looks? Any reason I can't pull mine off? Specifically asking about Bassani Road Rage but I expect answer is the same for any pipes.

Some may be appearance only. I cannot imagine why they would but the end cap may secure the baffle in the pipe?

Not this one, baffle has its own screw.

Well as long as that is secure I don't see why you couldn't remove them. It certainly wouldn't hurt it to take them off and fire it up. See what happens

They will increase back pressure and reduce reversion, on addition to changing the tone.

I know on my bike - I had to install a set to make them long enough to clear the rear saddlebag - but I think they are more for looks as it is easier to machine a design finish on end caps then trying to do it on a 3' long exhaust pipe...
