Default 88 to 96 engine mod.

Hello to all.Can anyone tell me if I can install stock 2007 96 cylinders, pistons, cylinder heads on my 2006 heritage efi 88. Would I gain anything by this? Or do I need an aftermarket big bore kit? Thanks, tom

THE HEADS AND CYLINDERS WILL FIT, THE PISTONS WILL NOT, YOU WILL HAVE TO GET PISTONS FOR THE 4" STROKE.

You will gain nothing. The bore sizes are the same.

Randy is correct....you will have to buy 06 and earlier pistons. As far as gaining anything...no...you would still have a 88'. I have to ask, why do you want to install a '07 top end on your '06?

Have your stock cylinders bored to 95in and use some SE flat top pistons.

The 07 - 96" engine is a "stroked" TC 88. The cylinder bore and size is the same on an 88 and 96 but the pistons will not interchange, and the heads are a bit different.

Start with a TC88, bore it out and you get 95"
Start with a TC88, bore and stroke it and you get 103"
Start with a TC96, bore it out and you get 103"

You will gain nothing by trying to put a stock 96" top end on a TC88

Thanks everybody,I thought the 07s had a bigger bore & would have been a cheep way to make my 88 a bit stronger.
