Default D&D Fatcat

Bought a Fatcat for my Fatboy S. Got with the perforated wrapped baffle thinking it was the louder one but noticed that there are only 2 baffles available for softail models and there are 3 for the touring models. Anyone know why that is?

It's a rare thing that someone wants a Fatcat to be louder but all you have to do is remove the baffle and cut the wrap off.

I have a wrapped louvered baffle in mine (Road King) and it's too loud as far as I'm concerned.

Thanks! Maybe I'll leave it alone then.

Are you looking for it to be louder? I have a Fatboy S and on the fence with get a fatcat as I'm worried it may be too loud. Sound is so subjective, some say the fatcat is not loud and others say they have to wear ear plugs all the time and they get a splitting headache after an hour ride. I do a lot of touring on my so I do not want it to be too loud and cruising speeds. But I'm looking to wake up the 110" motor and I know the fatcat will do the trick with a tune.

It looks like the latest touring bikes have the louvered wrapped, perforated wrapped, or perforated baffles. In the order listed they would be quietest to loudest and most restrictive to free breathing. It looks like the older touring, Softails, and Dynas only have the louvered or the perforated and wrapped baffles. That is curious considering that the only baffle offered for both of them is the wrapped perforated. The new touring is a dual pipe though so that is probably why there is a difference. I'm sure it has to do with maintaining back pressure.

OP, you bought the louder of the baffles and it will make a bit more in peak numbers. The louvered wrapped baffle will make more bottom end power and it will be a bit quieter. I am running the perf wrapped baffle on my 117" in my '05 Deluxe and am happy with the sound and power. At 10.5:1 with Feuling 594 cams the bike sounds wicked!

Yeah, I didn't get it installed yet but wanted the loudest baffle. Noise doesn't bother me. I grew up around drag racing and loud Harleys. It is he music of my people.
I just didn't understand why the touring 2-1 has the plain perforated baffle and the softail 2-1 doesn't have the option from D&D.

We put a FatCat on my sons Heritage last summer and I was really surprised at how quiet it was. He was pretty let down by it too. Pulled the baffle over the wknd to take the wrap off and to my surprise the baffle was a solid can with no wrap on it. Has anyone tried modifying a baffle like this to make it louder. I know the easiest thing to do would just replace the baffle but he's a 20yr old college student with limited funds and Daddy ain't shuckin out no more dough. Just searching for ideas at this point.

Did he have the perforated or the levoured baffle?

It's the louvered baffle. I thought about cutting the can off and wrapping the baffle. I'm thinking that should give us the desired effect.
