The CV carb will work just fine. Many will disagree with me, but I wouldnt put a cv on a 100 build. But, I also dont run cvs on stock engines. The CV is a bottleneck at the 100hp mark give or take for a 74-77 sportster FYI.
So, if youre thinking 1hp per cube on a 100 I sure the heck wouldnt run a cv.
I don't think Madnss is saying it won't run respectable but there is some gain to be had going with say an HSR42, or in your case a 45. Maybe even a 48. On the other hand tho I also think there's such a thing as too big of carb, just like throttle bodies, where velocity suffers. We both come from the performance sporty world where dynos have consistently shown this to be the case. The 100hp mark was widely viewed as the point where the cv40 was bottlenecking. Maybe not a lot but.
Look at how soon the 50mm throttle body is deemed best replaced with a 58.
The cv does seem to adjust to things like altitude and barometric pressure changes much better tho.
