Default adjusting throttle cabe (gas)

im trying to adjust my throttle cable. not having much luck.still sticks when wide open.i have the gas shut off but everytime i move the throttle, gas sprays down the cylinders, is this gas mixing in with my oil.i start it every couple squirts.im thinking my spring on the carb might be bad.

I'm guessing this is a carbureted model?

It shouldn't take that long to get it adjusted properly if everything else is in working order.
[ul][*]You got a service manual?[*]When was the last time the throttle grip was cleaned and lubed?[*]When is the last time the cables were lubed?[*]Are the cables being overstressed, bent to sharply or pinched?[*]Does the linkage on the carb operate freely with cables removed or does it hang up?[/ul]
As far as the gas situation goes...you could remove the float bowl easy enough. Hopefully the fuel petcock is off and functioning properly.

When I screwing around with the carb cables I always turn off the gas then run the bike out of gas, even then you will get a little squriting when you move the throttle.

i found out what is wrong. the cables are to short.when i turn the wheel all the way to the left it bends the clip that holds the cables to the carb. i have 16 inch apes. so everything is modified.

going to try to rerout the cables. i guess theres morons at every work place.i dont know why they would have routed them through the forks.

Going through the forks is not necessarily a bad thing. Sometimes going through the forks is the best path to prevent binding or sharp bends in the cables.

I put low profile drags on a Deuce and the stock cable length will fit but the cable is unnaturally bent when full right bar turn. They bind up there and then the throttle sticks. Best option was to extend the length about 6-8" and go through the forks. That gives a more uniform curve to the bend in the cables and prevents binding.
