Alternatively, if it's not, you don't spend enough time in the saddle. 
I just ditched a set of pipes because they were killing my hearing, and no one wanted to ride behind me...I didn't blame them. They sucked in that regard.
One set of 3 month old DNA Megaphones bound for the trash heap, as I sure as hell don't want a friend I have to ride with experience them.

In my experience every time I wonder something about my bike the answer is always yes.
For example;
1) Is it cold enough that I need to wear my leathers?
2) Should I stop and put on my rain suit?
3) Should I stop for gas even though the bike says I have 60 miles to empty?
4) Is my exhaust so loud it might be bothering my neighbors at 0630?
The real question is do you care what your neighbors think about you?
