Default Push rod adjustment

I learned to adjust the push rod when the like tappet on the opposite cylinder was at the highest point. Has this changed with the Twin Cam? And can anyone tell me how many turns (flats) for the Andrews and SE push rods? Pitch or thread per inch is bound to make a differance.

Freedom ther are several push rods manufactures out there and several thread pitches bring used. The best thing you can do is call the Co that makes the rod your using andask them. I can tell you that we are looking for .100 to .120 preload on the lifter.

SE quick install push rods are 10 flats, that equals 2 1/2 full turns (they are square, not hex)

the andrews quick installs are 3-4 full turns (18-24 flats, these are hex)

the procedure is the same as on an evo, adjusting like valves.

the only difference is that the TC88 only has 2 different length pushrods and the evo has 4

Thanx
First two lines are exactly what I needed. Never had a evo, went from 68 shovel to twin cam. Guess there are a lotof ways to makesure the valve is not on the open lobe. Thanx

With the piston at TDC on the COMPRESSION STROKE both valves will be closed.

MAKE SURE TO LET THE LIFTER BLEED DOWN BEFORE YOU ROTATE THE ENGINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

after adjusting them, do not rotate the engine untill you can spin the pushrod by hand!!!!

if you do, the newly adjusted valve will hit the piston, and that will suck.
