Is this a good Idea ?
Installing a V&H fuel controller on my 07 street bob,i'am not really looking for any performance ,I'am happy the way it runs now.
My plans was to keep her stock except for the pipes,I'am going to add slip-ons just don't know which ones rush or cycle shack for sound.
But my main consern is how lean they are set up at the factory.
how lean is to lean ? I do not want to hurt the motor ,all I want to do is richen her up alittle . Those white tipplugs make meworry to much.
Am I beating myself to much! after all Harley would not set these bikes up lean like this if it was going to hurt them right?
V&H fuelpak are designed to work with a free flowing air filter and performance pipes (true duel or slip on's) If you go to their web site they will explain it all, but there is no setting just for pipes only. The fuelpak works good, I put it on my son's 07 street glide with Arlen Ness big Sucker air cleaner and true duel Thunderheaders.
I put the fuelpak on my 07 low rider with the V&H slipon mufflers and K&N a/c. Increased my mpg, sounds much better, plugs still white, but they are just a bit darker....not dark enuf for me, but there's not much more to do to richen her up with my set-up. I hope my 96 lasts for a long time being on the lean side
Don't worry if it's running lean. Thats why they have the O2 sensors and the engine does compensate to some degree. Much has been discussed here. Get yourself a pot of coffe and look up every thread.
Just slapped Pythons slipons, Fuel Pak, and Big Sucker on my 07 Electra last night.
Total time 2 hours. Took more time reading the directions.
Bike now pulls harder than the wife's 07 Street Bob and she just has the V&H Straight Shot
slip ons.
Her plugs now are just a little white just as mine now with the modifications.
Heard the Cycle Shacks are a pretty good sounding pipe without cashing in your wallet. Bigger the Rush more louder they get. A little more money. The V&H the wife has sound a little tinney to me but do get loud when you get on it.
But you gotta think in all the money you spent on a new machine, what is $1500 when you just spent $15K... right?
MyElectra pulls harder coming off the line and through the gearsandthink it's the best $620 (EBay)I spent....and yes..I did it myself.
I put V&H BSS , fuel pak and stage 1 and was pretty happy with the results. But as Shasta69 said....they were tinny sounding at idle. I just installed some quiet baffles and the sound is great and I am sure I have gained some lower end torque. I have read some threads that some people get pop(backfire) between shifts and the fix (some times) is to change mode 23 setting from 16 to 50.
Running K&N HD-1499 air filter, fuelpak (FP-0842 setting), Screaming Eagle Street Performance touring mufflers (64985-07A). The K&N 1499 filter is supposed to be a higher air flow filter than the stock harley filter.
Seams to have a little more power. Hoped to deal with the "lean" tuning of the 2007 HDs.
