Hey guys, helping a buddy replace his exhaust head pipe and wondering why there is an option to replace an O2 sensor with a Bung plug.
I just dont know the difference. I can only assume that the O2 sensor is used to send information to the computer on how the bike is running and can throw codes if there is a problem.
But I noticed many people remove the O2 sensors and just put in bung plugs. Why would you do that? Wouldnt that cause problems?
I guess what I want to know are what the advantages/disadvantages of using bungs over O2 sensors or vice versa.
BTW the bike is a 2008 fatboy that has stock exhaust with O2 sensors - going to Bassani 2 in 1
If you run just the bung plugs you will need the resistance caps for the electrical side of the O2 sensors connectors. Some people don't like the little adjustment made by the ECM from O2 sensors inputs.
