Default cleaning o2 sensor?

Do o2 sensors need to be cleaned? I'm installing my new road rage exhaust and the o2 sensors were a grayish white. Should they be cleaned every once ina while? Bike is a 14 with 4.5k. I was thinking it would be good to clean em up before installing the new pipe but I don't know of this is neccesary or even what to use. Any thoughts on this would be great. Thanks guys!

What you are see is a shield. The part that tells the computer how much o2 is in the exhaust in under it. They do not need to be cleaned.

Don't clean and don't touch the probe - also be careful of getting any anti-seize on the actual sensor probe or you might find yourself replacing them

You would have to put a lot of anti seize in the threads for it to seep down onto the o2 sensor right?

Thanks for the responses guys, I'm going to leave the sensors alone.

Yes you would. Like I said what you are looking at is a shield that covers the sensor. You can touch the cover. You would have to cut the cover off to get to the sensor. Company I worked for made o2 sensors and a lot more parts for computer and fuel injection systems. Part of my job was to teach technicians how to work on them.

Read item #3 on the second page of the installation sheet from V&H about getting anti-seize on the tip of the O2 sensor

http://vanceandhines.com/download/D514IN.pdf

I don't believe it would take much to throw a code
