One Experience With TAB Slip-Ons
* Stock headers, Cat still installed
I watched a ton of online videos, & determined the medium baffles would work best for me. Given that the Zombie baffles were promoted as being able to, "wake the dead", I thought they'd be too loud: that's why I ordered medium baffles when I bought the pipes. With the stock headers & cat, however, I found the mediums to be almost no different from the stock pipes. They wouldn't really start to sound good until > 3,200 rpm.
I replaced the mediums with Zombies after 1,700 miles, and the difference was immediate, and profound. THAT was the sound I was looking for. They're throaty but unassuming at cruise, but they come to life with every twist of the throttle, at every point in the power band. A couple hundred miles in, power and mpg's are comparable to stock, though the mpg's fall off quickly if I'm trying to make lots of noise.
I'm keeping the mediums, however. If I do go to a Stage 1 kit and replace the headers, the Zombies may end up being too loud in that application.
Just one guy's experience, FWIW.

a year and 1/4 later (and 20+k more miles), I just reinstalled the Medium baffles. The bikes heading in for a build soon, and the builder strongly advocates for louvered baffles in M8 applications.
After logging 107 miles yesterday, I definitely prefer the sound of the Zombies. Still, I appreciated the lower decibel level of the Mediums when pounding the interstate @ 80 mph.
FWIW, I couldnt feel any difference in acceleration between the two types of baffles. If there was a torque difference, my a$$ did not detect it.

Running 3 tanks of gas through it since the last post, gas mileage has gone down from 42-44 mpg to 38 mpg. I suppose it could be "winter formulation" gas, but maybe I should put the Zombies back in for a few tanks, & see what happens.
