I posted this on another site & was told by doing an intake leak test this way, I WOULD cause a leak. Can somebody please tell me why?? I've asked the other forum but no answer yet.
Quick intake leak test for EFI bikes:
Remove air cleaner cover and air cleaner. On the INSIDE of the opening, and on the top part, there is a small hole. Start the bike, cover the small hole with finger. If the bike quits, you DO NOT have an air intake leak. If the bike slows done but keeps running you DO HAVE an intake leak.
I was shown this little method by a couple of different people (an indy and a harley master tech) and can't for the life of me figure out why this would "cause" the IAC or any other part to leak. Seems like a better method that spraying wd-40 or propane on a hot engine...
Thanks Doc,
I'm in the North Hills. Grew up in the Northside in the city.
Was swimming down in Ohiopyle this past Tuesday. I'm sure you've been there before.
Where exactly are you putting your finger in that intake?

Take off the air cleaner. Looking into the intake, the hole is on the top of the inside....about 1/2 way back to the butterfly.
DOC1: Guess I got lucky with the gaskets. Or maybe time will tell. Anyway thanks again for the advice. Guess things are not always as simple as they seem.
