Default Do you replace your exhaust gaskets?

I've only replaced my exhaust gaskets when going from one style to another, i.e. stock tapered gaskets to Fuel Moto flat gaskets with their head pipe on my M8. (or, in the case of my 2010 TC when the V&H head pipe flange broke and had to replace the pipe AND the front gasket due to gasket damage)

Fuel Moto has sent me a new head pipe to replace the broken one (the crossover tube broke), and I'm debating if I need to install new gaskets, since there are already Fuel Moto gaskets installed and I've never had past troubles with header gaskets. Do I leave them and just worry about it if I get a flange leak?

Do you replace them every time?

I made my own installation tool, so I'll go ahead and replace!

Silly me...no tool needed. They slid right in. I actually had to out-of-round them just a hair to get them to stay in place while I mounted the exhaust.

Sounds like you are pretty lucky then. I just did my front exhaust gasket and it was not willing to go in so easily. I used a thin, flat piece of circular metal and tapped oh-so-gently on it with a wrench extension and rubber mallet, and that did the trick. I had a trickier time getting the retaining ring to stay in place while I fit the pipe and flange back on, but working backwards helped.

I'm guessing your "installation tool" was the combo of washers and bolt you can find in a few YouTube videos? That was my next idea.

Nah...I used a hole saw to make a driver out of wood. Had a 1/2" x 4" bolt and nut in a bucket of spare stuff, so I drilled 7/16 half-way through one side and threaded the bolt into it with the locknut for support.
