I have two Harleys and neither one has heatshields turning blue. I wonder if it's mounted incorrectly and too close to the pipe? I hope they do something for you 🤞

What do your plugs look like? Pipe/muffler blueing is not unusual. But heatshields less

Bike is back from the 1k. No heat issues. It’s a scorched chrome issue near the rear jug. Mine isn’t the only one doing it. Harley is going to replace the heat shield under warranty. Most likely the new part will do it, too. I’ll either live with it or change the heat shields and slip one to black.

Ditto on never seeing that happen to a shield. It could have been an applied substance but I never seen that either. My guess is there will be no warranty coverage for an exhaust element turning blue.

Never had a heat shield turn blue. Normally the air gap between the pipe and the shield will prevent that. I wonder if the shield is touching the pipe other than at the mounting points.
