700 miles on the bike and the scorched chrome is literally scorched. Dealership trip in the future for (hopefully) a warranty fix. Anybody have any experience with HD and chrome warranty?
I that is the heat shield that thing got really hot. i have never seen the shields change color on any bike i have ever owned. You can't stop the actual pipe from changing color
I think HD's warrenty on chrome is NONE.
Its the heat shield. Dealership will call Harley about it when its in for the 1k on the 25th. They arent sure if its an overall issue with the scorched chrome or if that heat shield was a failed part.
I cleaned it up today with chrome polish, microfiber towels, and elbow grease. Most of the blue came off. Im gonna give the bike a good cleaning and ride it tonight or tomorrow to see if it comes back. Definitely strange. Im starting to wonder if the factory or dealer had some sort of chemical on it that didnt get wiped off.
I washed up the bike and let it idle for a few minutes. As soon as it warmed up the chrome went back to blue. Im gonna go with a bad batch of chrome. Appointment for the 1k is on the 25th and the dealer said they would have the tech call HD when its in.
