Picked up the bike today. From what I can tell the rear sections of the exhaust doesnt have heat shields. They both bolt on the piping kinda like slip ons. The two head pipes have heat shields.
I assume this is how the exhaust is made and given its Vance and Hynes I assume tuning or air leaks are the cause. Best guess anyways.
The second half of the pipes (mufflers), do not have heat shields, but mount onto the hard pipe underneath the head piping heat shields. So the upper portion does have heat shields but the latter do not. I do see heat shield mounting hardware (hose clamps) on the upper portion of piping. Im going to try an upload pictures again. Many have stated they cannot see the originals.
Is it possible the exit of the front pipe is causing the discoloration?
wow great thought process. Idk and never considered. I assume air would quickly drop the temp of the exhaust while in motion but the thing is I absurdly loud (I love it). So if loudness correlates to heat, maybe so.
