Any opinions out there on the stock cylinders that are now being bored to 98"? Has anyone heard of any problems? Thanks,Rick
Mine isn't 98". Mine are bored 95" +.010 with 10.5:1 Wiseco pistons witch makes it a 97" I have over 17000 miles on the top end with no problems.......I could of gone +.020 over 95" and that would of made it a 98" but I decided to go with +.010 that way I could bore them one more time.
Are the cylinders that you are referring the ones that use a Nikasil plating job on the cylinder walls and do not actually have a conventional cylinder sleeve? If so, there a number of members that are using those types of cylinders. I think that GMR Performance and Headquarters both offer the Revolution cylinders with Nikasil plating. This is not new technology; some of the car manufactures have used it or worked with it for quite sometime. I do not know about the durability but I would also be interested in hearing more about it. My bikes warranty is up in the spring of next year and I will definitely build the motor at that time. Maybe some of the more knowledgeable will ring in on this thread.

Arcane
The cylinders you're referring to are actually the ones I'm running. GMR and a few others are now boring the stock jugs to 98". Those are the ones I'd like to hear about.
Ive got Steves (GMR) 107 kit and i have 2400 miles so far. I am very pleased with the results, although i havent had it dynoed yet. Numbers are not that important to me but seat of the pants results are great. I was real happy to go to be able to go to his shop and have him do the work. I reckon in the next couple of weeks i will have it tuned and will be able to provide numbers.

I have been boring 3 or 4 sets a week now for the last 6-7 months and have had no come backs or issues with the JE piston kits I use.
