They have the HSR-42 Easy Kit which was the 248.00 Allows use of all you stock components and comes with an air cleaner ring / adapter.

Then they have the total kit which includes the air cleaner I think. Guess it depends on the one they get you. Mine bolted right up and I used my SE Air Cleaner and stock cables.

ORIGINAL: miacycles

The price quoted for the Mikuni says Kit, so I assume it would include the manifold and air cleaner. The E-Z or Quick install pushrods make life easier down the road when you mightwant or need to do some more work in the cam related areas.

Give Doug Coffey at Head-Quarters a call. For ~$2,000 you can have the heads, cylinders, pistons, gaskets, cams you arelooking for.

Here's a link to their 95" kits with basic pricing information:

http://www.head-quarters.com/html/tc95_kits.html

His turnaround time is about two weeks from the time you ship your heads and cylinders to him until the brown truck shows up at your door with you kit.

Doug's very, very knowledgeable and enjoys a great reputation as a no BS guy. For the $$$ you are about to spend, I'd call him.
Alright, I mentioned in another thread that the speed shop I had spoken with did not claim to have good experiences with Head Quarters. That was enough to deter me from looking into them any further. Since then, I have been thinking that I would like to do all the work myself rather than having someone else do it. Not for any $ savings, but for the experience of doing it.

Since I've seen H-Q mentioned on this site a number of times, your post was a kick in the *** to get me to call them. Just got off the phone with Doug. Without a doubt he is easy to talk to and knows his stuff, and he has completely changed my mind about not considering HQ. In fact I will probably end up going with them. The price I would be looking at is pretty much $3k, though. Not $2k. Still, it's a savings compared to the configuration I was looking at - which kept growing and growing with people's seemingly great suggestions. Example: Heavy duty cylinder studs. Doug said no to those, could be even worse than leaving the stock ones in. He said keep my stock CV carb. It will work better with this configuration than Mikuni. He said keep my stock lifters. And here's a big one: he said no to roller rockers! That one saves me possibly up to $500 alone.

Thanks to all for the continued input on this. I've become a big fan of this site.

Glad to hear you had a good experience talking to Doug--sorry about the pricing; it will be a GREAT package for you.

You will NOT be disappointed! I sure love mine.

Which package are you going with?

The trick is to simply follow his recommendations and don't worry about trying to make it "better" with this or that. He has the experience and he delivers!

I ride an 02 lowrider, so sport package. 11:1 compression. Definately getting psyched up. When I get home tonight I don't know whether to start tearing down the bike or paint my living room while my wife's away. I know which project will earn me less grief from her though!

You might wanna get a couple extra rear tires too! hahahhaha!!!!!! that's gonna GET-IT!

Screw a bunch'a grief! You can have it torn down in a couple hours & ship things off. Heck, you might even be able to paint after you ship stuff out.... win/win!

Holler if ya have any questions along the way.... If I can assist, I'll be glad to.

Ha ha. Rembember Al Bundy's fantasy about having a hot model that makes a ton of $ come home from work? She walks through the door and says, "what did you do all day?" He answers, "I watched football and drank beer." And that turned her on.

I don't think I'd be gettin any by pulling the same thing though. Bummer.

Well I got the bike torn down over the weekend and sent the heads and cylinders off to Head Quarters. Question for anyone who's done this before: Does the kit include all bearings needed for the cam install? Or is that something I will have get aftermarket? I'm doing the gear driven cams. Also, I know the package does not provide a complete gasket set - only for the heads. I've seen a few different choices for complete gasket kits in the JP Cycles catalogue. Does anyone have a recommendation on who to go with for that?

My HQkit cam with head gaskets and o-rings for the barrels.
you will just need the rocker stuff. and push rod o-rings.
I found a SE cast piston set on Ebay with all the gaskets for a stock 88 for 60$, that gave me all I needed.
then I resold the pistons and got 20$ back.

I bought the S&S install kit from directparts.com and that had the bearings and the cam support plate stuff.
I also installed new S&S adjustable pushrods, so that kit had o-rings.
