Default HELP

Ok Guys My first post here looking for a lot of input

Just had my 08 ultra delivered. I am not impressed with the numbers it showed on the dyno.It dynoed at 69.71hp and 79.05ft. lbs of torque. Is it just me or does this seem low? I have seen some other post listing their numbers in the mid 70's or higherwith the same set up.

Iadded the SE air Filter, Rhinhart true duals and SERT

I plan on doing a lot of 2 up riding and just want some more low end to mid range pull. Will just replacing the cams be good enough or should I double the price to to go with the 103 setup. (900 to 2100 dollars)

Would like to stay with HD parts for warranty reasons if I go with cams only Looking at the 211 or the 204. If I go with the 103 should I go with the stock cams they offer or try to talk them into a differant cam.

I am 200lbs and the wife 125lbs

Thanks in advance

I think I would do the 103 cylinders and call it good for now unless you can do cams and heads with it. The Big Bore now will work with any additions you decide in the future and will give you alittle more torque (5 or around). No one is going to accuse an Ultra with 70/80 of being a hot rod but it will have more than enough to do the job as is. Do the BB and then start researching complete build packages (heads/cams/BB). The ideal set up is to just wait and do it all at once especially if having it done. Cost will be less. If doing your self not a real consideration as your time is free. A lot of people do not like the SE parts and I thank they get a bad rap some times. Some of it is deserved and some is not. I like options as you can see from by build listed. Warranty unless you do a couple of HD approved builds will be void as far as the motor company is concerned. Your dealer and some others may warranty it there selfs but HD its self will not. And trust me you do not have the money to take on HD. Not trying to worry you. Just food for thought.

Couple ways to go here and being that the bike is new, you have a lot of time to decide. Everybody always chimes right in and says to go full bore from the beginning, but for some, that is not the way to do it, especially if you are not a real motor head. Cheapest bang for the buck, is to install a free breathing air cleaner, some pipes (Rineharts will not build you torque and theyonly start to show real performance gains in a stock engine past 3500rpm) 2 into ones preferrably, a good bolt in cam such as the Woods TW6 and have a decent tune done. Even going this route you will drop an easy $1500 or more depending on labor costs or if you can do it yourself. Yes, there are greater gains to be had, and once you are ready to go that route investigate performance kits such as those by HeadQuarters, GMR, T-Mann, Kuryakin, etc.
I never encourage somebody to jump right in especially if they are worried about warranty, although most of the HD builds anymore will void your warranty. Take your time, do some research, ask lots and lots of questions, then decide.

As Lockhart said, sometimes HD gets bad rapped for its engine builds, but lots of times, it is the guy turning the wrench, but for most part, you can buy better quality and more HP for less than HD parts.
I am in the middle of a HeadQuarters build right now, but have done a couple of HD builds that turned out really well.
