Sorry to piggy back on your post, but Iâm looking for tools too. I know âJimsâ sells them with vendors, but if you donât use them that frequently why buy them. Theyâre Pricey! Iâm starting my build in early Jan and looking for a Twin Cam Bearing Remover & Installer. If anyone can help.
Go to Yahoo search and type in "HARLEY TECH TALK". That will give you the link to get to that forum. Go to the "Twin cam" section and ask who rents tools. One of out guys there does it all the time. I bought mine from George Garage my self but I work on my partners and there friends bikes some. Great quality. All you need for cams is inner bearing installer and inner bearing remover and the oil pump alighnment tool is nice to have for peace of mind and pretty cheap.
get inner bearing removal tools (blind bearing puller kit and slide hammer)at AZ at no cost and use a cam to install the new inner bearings that you have just taken from the freezer. couple of taps with a rubber mallet and they are in. freeze all cams and bearing, heat the cam plate to 200 in the oven and the parts practically fall together. if using cam chain tensioners then you will need those tools cause the springs are STRONG.
Sleeps In Trees. I dont know any thing about the guy you mentioned but the puller on the link that I put in the post above yours looks good. It is under $160 and looks to be made like the HD puller, as in puller/installer all in one. I was going to get one from Auto Zone but I checked my local store and the slide knocker set they had only had three mandrels in it and none were the right size for the bearing,I know this because I had a Torrington B-148 in hand at the time. Also I saw the same puller set that AZ had at Harbor Freight later that day for $39.00
