Just wondering what kind of average life expectancy stock engines have? I know there are limitless contributing factors to this question but lets just assume under ideal conditions of proper maintenance and care.
I previously had an 01 sportster 1200, had it for three years and put 25,000 miles on it. I did all my own maintenance, used synthetic fluids in everything, and never had a problem one with it.
Now Ive got my 07 Night Train and using it as my daily driver I'll be racking up about 20,000 miles a year, primarily highway.
I know the 96 CI engines in the 07s havent beenout very long but wondering if anyone has any expectations?
Just curious, thanks.
That motor should see 200,000 miles left stock. Higher seat pressure valve springs in the hi-Performance builds haven't been run enough to see what effect on the cam plate yet. I don't see any real problem arising as of yet.
