If you want to open up the bike a bit(get the sound and a bit more power than stock)until you plan to dig into the engine and do it right, then get a set of cheap cycle shack slip ons(cycle shack used to be an OEM maker for SE exhaust products, so they are essentially the same without paying double for the Screamin Eagle logo). And a good quality AC kit(not the SE junker kit) of your choice.

As for the tune, what I would recommend is buying a Daytona Twin Tec WEGOII(afr monitor easy to hook up and install btw)and buy a SE SERT. Stay away from reflashes, every reflash is what I call a $150 waste of money. The SERT combined with a WEGOII will allow you to tune and retune your bike effectively as you make changes and is a much better long term solution both for the performance of the bike, and your wallet(you will spend more upfront, but much less in the long run). In fact I think Daytona Twin Tec just cam out with their Twin Scan 88+ which is made specifically for tuning the sert easily with a WEGO monitor.

There are a few folks here including myself who can help you through the programming process if you need help. But if your still waiting for the bike, pick it up ahead of time and get yourself aquainted with the software. Looks challenging at first, but with time spent learning up on it and understanding it you will find its pretty straight forward.

Zanottis sells the SERT for about 25% off retail, and www.partsthatfithd.com sells the Daytona Twin Tech kit at a discount also thats worth your time.

MEGA. thanks bro THAT was just the type of 411 I needed to get me going. I look forward to reading all your and other people post to continue my education and I'm sure I'll have plenty more inquiries down the road come build time. Wish there was something I could help you with. Maybe one day down the road.

theyogawarrior -

I like the way you're thinking and agree with what Mega said! That direction will help you now and leave you options for however you go in the future. As for exhaust, Cycle Shack "M" series slip ons are proven performers and have the look and sound that will complement your scooter. You'll be able to use them downstream too.

One other thing you might look into is whether a switch to 3.37 gears would be a benefit. It makes a noticeable difference in acceleration in pre-'06s, but given you have a 6-speed and I think they are they are already geared a bit lower - I'm not sure it would help or hurt. Maybe someone else more knowledgeable can weigh in here and provide better insight.

I ran stock head pipes with screaming eagle slip ons and stage one ecm before going with the thunderheader and powercommander. I noticed a big difference, no more flat spot, it pulls hard though all rpm's. Altough I love the performance, I am not wild about the looks of a 2into1 pipe on my bike. I am going with true duals vance and hines longshots, Hopefully I won't be too dissapointed with the performance. I'll keep you updated.

Thunder Header 2 into 1's are AWESOME!! Great sound, great look. Seach the net for the comparisons -- these pipes smoke slip on's and true duals in regards to horse power. Plus, you can get the false left side to balance the look of your bagger.

Good Luck!

They dont smoke all true duals. We found a few 2-2 pipes actually performed better. We did some dynos comparing Thunderheaders and a few other common 2:1 pipes and found on built agressive 95" and 107" engines Bassani Pro Streets and Cycle shack 2-2 pipes were superior through almost the entire power band. Like I stated earlier, the Thunderheader was designed around an 80" Evolution engine. Its starts choking off on well build 95" engines and larger combinations.
