Need your recommendations on above subject, especially interested in a supplier with good tech support because I probably will have to deviate from a pre-packaged kit due to my unique application, see signature.
Even though engine was running good, I decided to do a partial teardown this winter to check heads, cylinders, etc. I found a few problems getting ready to haunt me, mainly a few cracks in the bottom of the front cylinder so replacements are in order. I am running a 4 1/8" bore now so this is a kit that I will be shopping for.
Where were the cracks? Would love to see a pic. I vote for axtell replacements. They have them availible with a couple different pistons.
Thanks for your feedback.
Here is a picture of front cyl fromthe outside. Wonder how long I could have gone like this?
Axtell wasrecommended here butsowas GMR fromsome other scources. Because I need a lot of custom work such as matching piston weights so I do not have to re-balance andgetting the compression right becausethis is a boost application, Iam boxing the cyls, pistons and heads and sending them to GMR for custom work, at least this is where my head (the one between my shoulders)is now. If I could havejust called a supplier and ordered a basic kit I would have had more options, not to mention thecost.
