Anyone care to comment here. Im replacing my exhaust on 08 Fat Bob. Ive never looked inside the engine of a motor cycle before...but here are pics of what it looks like on mine. Is the color right? Granted I dont havent done any ECM/fuel updates yet. Th
Looks realgood. Be sure to pull the exh gaskets and replace them. On an engine that uses O2 sensors it is very critical that there are no exh leaks or you will have a mis-tuned engine. A leak there really sucks in the air, if even avery small leak, due to the tremendous exhaust scavenging at that location.
Take a real good look at those exhaust gaskets. See how the stock ones protude into the gas flow? The SE gaskets are made to not do that. Probably about the same price. A little good for very little. As Geargrinder said, bring up thenuts easy and together for a good seal.
Guys...there were no gaskets when I took off the exhaust. That kinda surprised me cause I figured there would be something there to make a good seal. The pipes were just bolted on (not very tightly). It also looks like they may have been vibrating at the heads cause it looks a little worn there.
Your gaskets are still in the heads, I can see them in your pictures. Take some sort of pick, long small flat blade screwdriver will work, and pull them out. They are soft rings, the approx diameter of your exh pipe.

Where do you get gaskets if they didn't come with the pipes? Is this a Dealer item?
Get the Screaming Eagle Exh gaskets from a dealer. They have an inner bevel to them that helps to prevent a bad thing called exhaust reversion. Be sure to install them with the bevel facing towards the head, most get installed backwards.
