Your gaskets are still in the heads, I can see them in your pictures. Take some sort of pick, long small flat blade screwdriver will work, and pull them out. They are soft rings, the approx diameter of your exh pipe.
You were right. I couldnt feel them and they were mashed down to where they looked like part of cylinder. I used my fingernail to scrape the edge till I found them, then pulled them out with pliers. Replaced with new ones and installed the new pipes on Sat. All seems to be tight.....it definately runs ALOT stronger.
Get the Screaming Eagle Exh gaskets from a dealer. They have an inner bevel to them that helps to prevent a bad thing called exhaust reversion. Be sure to install them with the bevel facing towards the head, most get installed backwards.
