Muffler removal?
On my new 2001 Road King, the previous owner put a set of Sampson Mufflers on. He also had the originals. After a week with the Sampsons I wanted to try the originals and attempted to remove the Sampsons. Wow! Only tried the right side and even though it wiggled, it woudn't come off. I tried a soft hammer and a screw driver at the joint going rearward and nothing but wiggle. I sprayed some nut removal for overnight but .......
So my questions are, any ideas? And any ideas?? I'm afraid to hammer too hard and screw up the flange gaskets by hammering to the rear and squeezing them, or something similar.
Any help soon would be helpful and appreciated.

I let the penetration soak overnight and this morning the right side came off with some wiggling. I then was curious of the sound so I fired it up for about two minutes, but couldn't really tell. Shut it off and started on the left. LLosen the bolts and voila! It wiggled off with one good pull. Maybe it was the heat expansion and shrinkage, but it was much easier. Now I'm not sure if it's too quiet! A day or two should tell.
So thanks for responding. I'm sure I'll have more questions (or need more help!!!).

With the stock crossover pipes, most of the exhaust comes out the right side. This may have made the difference. If you lookinside the stock mufflers there should be a difference between the left and right do to the crossover system.
