after 1 1/2 hours trying to make the link work on thundermax I quit.
Checked cables eeven the damn $36 one I bought to connect their cable to new laptop.
checked all fuses
cycled switch off
disconnected it all and reconnected
went thru whole process
and still says module not found
So any of the comfuser geeks gat anyides let the oldschool gearhead know.
A couple things (Easy simple stuff) I have forgotten when mine wouldn't connect over the weekend.
1. ECM Fuse back in?
2. Run Switch on the bars to RUN?
3. Com Port on Automatic. Mine actually on com port 5.
I had some connection problems, but I just unpluged the UBS connecter and pluged it back in. On Zipper's site they recommend a cheap adaptor as opposed to using a high end adaptor. I use the Belkin adaptor which isn't cheap but it does work.
whats cheap mine was 36 bucks seems high but only one could find out of 5 stores. and what is com port.this damn lap top has 4 differant places i can connect and non worked.
Com ports are communication ports. If you know the number of the port you are pluged into you can assign that port for communication with the software (SmartLink software). The software default (under Configure) is set to Automatic if the adaptor is detected it will automatilcy select a com port. You may need to update your USB drivers. A disk should have come with the adaptor with the proper driver for the adaptor. Did you load the disk?
dynatek or something like that is name.hell think ill just load up tower and take it to shop.should have to startwould have saved th 36 bucks for more crown royal,a 1/2 gallon should come with this thing.its new lap top but has windows xp not the well what ever the hell s newer system.
Make sure your plug is pushed all the way into the ecm. I had a problem with linking and discovered the plug needed to be really pushed in on the ecm side.
When you plugged the adatpr in the USB port your laptop should have noted new hardware and attempted to load a driver for it. At least that is how ine worked.
Good luck. It is worth the effort and troubles in my opinion.
