Default Slip-On's

I put new V&H slipon's on my '04 Road King Custom last week. I removed the inserts before putting them on.
My local bike shop says I can do damage to the engine and wants to install a "digital enricher". Is this necessary,
or is he just trying to get a couple hundred more dollars out of me?

Typically, putting on new slip-ons doesn't change much. Without baffles, however, you might have increased the air flow. If that's the case, your already-lean mixture will be even leaner, with overheating possible. Most here will tell you that the HD download is not worth the money, and is still too lean. Thus, the various fuel-management modules. They vary widely in price and set-up, and there are many strings you can surf about these (some require a Dyno, some don't). Somebody with experience can probably speak to the removed baffles.

Thanks Vic. I hate to put the baffles back in. It sounds FANTASTIC! I'd rather invest in a module.

Great looking scoot!

Check out this link over at the RK Riders site:

http://forums.delphiforums.com/Live2...Reading+%3E%3E

It covers several of the available options. I'm adding the V&H Fuelpak to mine as soon as I put the Stage-1 upgrade on the bike. I have a set of V&H Ovals on the way. Gotta get rid of the puny-sounding stock mufflers!

Ride Safe.

Yeah, these things are starved for air -- HD sets them on the lean side up to comply with EPA regs in all states. The Stage-1 is probably the cheapest and most effective mod you can do to your bike. It made a noticeable difference on my FXD, and I'm sure it will on my RK. It's also easy to install. Once on, though, it is mandatory to add the module to the ECM (DFO, Fuelpak, Race Tuner, PC, etc), or do the mediocre HD download. Otherwise, you'll run too hot.

Harely sells the kit for around $125 or so -- there are many other kits out there.

Hey Gunk,
Check out my horn cover. Those eyes are blue LCD lights. There's a little button under my seat to turn on and off.
Thought is was something a little different.

Man, that's classic! If I pulled up alongside and saw those, I'd probably dump it!
