Have you had crankshaft problems on a 2007 or 2008?
Why hasn't H-D ever updated the bottom end of these engines, Seems to me it wouldn't take an act of congress to widen the case slightly, go with a one piece crank and put the rods side by side, rather than the current siamesed design, and use automotive style rod caps? A multi-piece crankshaft no matter how it's assembled just seems to be asking for trouble the way I see it.
The upside of my story is that the roads are now heavily salted, like more salt than we got snow, and that ends my riding season.
I now have about three months to make my bike right! My warranty ends next Wednesday, thanks Harley, I'll remember this.
Darkhorse made the bottom end proper! Stock crank trued, balanced, welded with a Timken conversion. By the way, has anyone else noticed those nice beefy rods the MOCO is putting in there? The pics in the service manual sure don't look like what I got! They must not be real proud of them. They got replaced as well.
Redshift 575 Cams.
Fueling super pump and cam support plate.
Left the top end stock simply because of economic reasons, I'll go 103 at a later date.
Already had the ThunderMax, Kudo's to Zippers for helping me out yet again with the base map download!! You guys are above and beyond!!!
Now...today I am taking this thing out and running the snot out of it! I haven't ridden in 11 months and I'm stoked. I did get alot of work done this summer because of not riding however!
The vibration IS gone by the way. For you guys who have never had the chance, the mirrors should be usable at all speeds above idle!
And thank you again Harley Davidson Motor Company, this $3000 addition to my then 23 month old bike was very appreciated! I'll be sure to mention it to every human that rides one of your products, and of course I'll remember it very clearly when it's time to purchase another bike. If it is one of your products it sure won't be a new one!
Next time man up, if you build something and it's defective, well, that happens. Machinery is sometimes defective plain and simple. When that occurs, admit it and stand behind your product!
The '07 models were, well, a fiasco. I didn't see it coming. I saw a couple of minor changes that should have been good things.
Customer loyalty will keep money coming back time and again. Crapping on the people that feed you cash is a stupid way to draw in business.
Good luck in the future, with your present frame of mind I think that's limited.
There I voiced my mind, now I'm RIDIN"!!!!
