I went with the big bore stage 2 this past spring. I have a 2001 FLHTCUI with SE203 cams, SE back plate with K&N filter, Super Trapp slip ons with closed end caps. Had the stage 2 flash installed in the ECM when the build was done. Runs strong at highway speeds, but at low speed like 35mph or lower I seem to have a surging sensation. I took it back to the dealer and they stated that there is nothing more they can do cause of the SE203 cams. They said the cams cause this problem at low speeds and their flash is all they can do. I don't think this is right, but I am going to be trying a PCIII USB and see if it fixes the issue. Is there a different flash the dealers have or am I being told the right info from them? Not to steal the threat, but thought this might give you some info on a possible problem with not using a fuel management system.

they are telling the truth...performance cams have a stumble at low load situations...the bigger the cam, the worse the stumble, in my experience...other tuning aids like thundermax are said to lessen the stumble, but they have other disadvantages
dont buy the pc3 try and get the original screamin eagle race tuner...or the new TTS.
Hook is correct but with the sert you can tune for performance and wait till the new TTS upgrade comes in for our older efi bikes.
way better then the original SERT.
remember i mentioned the SERT not the super tuner that the dealeres sell.
I have a 02 Heritage stock engine except the pipes are python 3's. I am buying a 95" Big Bore kit with 203 cams. I want to change my chain driven cams to gear driven, will probably need new pushrods, oil pump. Is there anything else I should do (without going crazy $$ wise) and can someone tell me exactly what kind of pushrods, oil pump and gear drive kit I should be looking for?
I want to search for the best prices as I got the BBK off ebay brand new in package with 203 cams for $600
Thanks
Dave
Didn't read closely the earlier replies, but if it hasn't already been said, the SE 203's are not a gear driven cam. So, if you want gear drive, you will be buying different cams.
I have the Head Quarters HQ-0034 cams and they're an outstanding bolt in cam (and about $125 less than Woods)--you can reuse the stock pushrods if you want to save some $$$.
You will need a fuel management device and a good tune to get what your new build can yield. I use SERT and like it a lot.
You can compare cams using BigBoyz cam comparator:
Thanks for the replies. i was hoping that the dealer wasn't correct, but such is my luck. I did get a PCIII USB and have a pretty good map, but when I use the PCIII I get a cough out the AC once in a while. I know I will have to pay more $$$ to get it tuned.
