Default 2003 Night Train Starting Problem

2003 NT Carbureted. I can take my NT out of the garage and it starts right up. The problem starts when I ride for awhile and turn the bike off for 5-10 minutes. It does not like to start back up. I have to choke it, give it throttle, and hit start. Sometimes it takes 2-3 minutes before it will start up. When it won't start, it sounds like a rush of air comes out of the carburetor when I let off the start button. A guy from work that used to work on motorcycles thinks it may be sucking in air from a hose or a loose clamp. Any ideas on what the problem could be before I pay Harley money I don't want to

Check the vacum hose for leak from the carb to the fuel valve switch. Make sure it is well connected and there is no leak.

All I have is the owners manual. Can you elaborate on where this vacuum hose would be located? Why would it only do this after the bike is warm?

I encountered the same problem once and it was related to the vacumn hose that is attached to the side of the carb and goes to the fuel petcock being loose. If it is disconnected your motor will run and die quick. If it is loose or you have leak, it will run for a while and die and you will have hard starting. I hope that you do find the problem. Good luck.
