when I installed the fuel line on my '03 carbureted Dyna, I remember removing the old one, installing the new one. I just got one for my '04 fuel-injected Heritage and the instructions say to purge the fuel line of high pressure gasoline. Am I missing something? Is the fuel system only under pressure when the fuel pump is on and/or the gas cap in on? Can I pop off the gas cap and take off the stock fuel line, as long as the tank is, say, below 1/4 full?
it's HD part 63696-00A. they say to purge the fuel line of high pressure gasoline. also, do you know what a maxi-fse is? do I have one? I am pretty handy and know quite a bit, but I have no idea on this one. thx, Rick
I don't know about that part number, but if they say to purge the line of high pressure fuel, it's probably the line that goes from the tank to the fuel rail by the injectors.
I've got one of those quick-connects for the crossover line, kind of like an air hose coupling, but it's got seals in both halves that snap shut the moment the connector is opened. I anticipate there'll be less than a quarter-thimble of gasoline spilled when it's first opened. I'm jazzed about it and can't wait to install it the next time I have my tank off.
