The list of parts used in my Stage III job is in a post above. If I change the primary gearing, would I be correct then that the bike would run at higher RPM at highway speeds? If so, the SE 6 speed could be a good upgrade? Yes?

Yes, correct. Having the primary regeared to 3.37 or 3.48 then grabbing a SE 6 speed is a killer combo. The SE's 6th gear overdrive runs around .89:1 and will drop your rpms significantly. Its a great highway cruiser gear. And the 3.37/3.48 will give you noticeably more torque through the first 5 gears.
To be honest with this setup you may find that the SE 257's end up being OK. But if you do end up switching out cams, make sure you get one that has an INTAKE CLOSING POINT of 40 degrees or less for low end power. And get a set that switches you over to gear drive and be done with a nagging maintenance point on your bike.

Thanks for the advice. My stealer has a deal on the 6 speed tranny's. I've got a call into them to see if they have any left. Can't really afford all this right now but I may do it anyway.

If its 20% off RETAIL or better then it is a good deal. But if its less than 20% off retail then go through a place like Hales HD or Zannotis.
Retail here is $2600. I can get the set for $1500 right now.
I'd jump on that then. I assume its the gearset where you reuse your original case correct? If that includes the CASE as well, then give ME a phone # so I can jump on it and have a spare! =D

Correct. It's the gear set where I will reuse my case.
