Is this a trick question? A cam whether gear drive or chain drive makes relatively no noise. A correctly installed gear drive makes minimal noise to the tune of a quiet whirling. If you run louder pipes then stock, you usually do not hear the gears. Improper backlash or excessive crank run out will increase the noise from the gear drive kit. Now for what is talked about as CAM noise usually relates the the grind of the cam and whether the lifters are able to maintain the proper lash to keep the valves quiet. A high lift short duration cam can be "noisier" than a lower lift cam.
