Gear Drivbe cam question...
This may sound stupid so here goes...I have a 1450 twin cam, was told it has aftermarket cam, solid lifters...Question is does gear drive cams make "noise" ie do they have a distinct sound...sorry trying not to sound to dumb, so be kind...Thanks...Jack

The one thing you want to find out is how much run-out you have on the crank, for some reason Harley's tolarence is 12 thou. gear drive you need to be less than couple thou. maybe think on going to hyd. ten. checking cam bearings, replace stock INA bearings with Timkin look at Gaterman lifters, with SE adjustable push rods. I would say yes to much noise is not good.

As earlier mentioned, the whining noise from gear drives really depends on how much runout there is as well as the ability of your mechanic to install them correctly..
If they are properly installed they have a slight whine that you will only hear if you are trying to.. It's a good sound, not a bad one..
Gear drives are far superior to chain for many reasons, that is the way to go..
