FWIW...I have those pipes on one of my dad's bikes. Bone stock except a set of Tw26's, air cleaner, and those pipes.. They made 76hp/88tq on the dyno with the stock baffles that came in the pipe..

Went to the dealership and looked at the dyno numbers.

Called V&H tech line. They confirmed that in fact the old style Big Shots that I have are a 1 3/4" pipe from header to end. Combine this with a set of baffles on a 95" motor with compression, cams and a bit of headwork....Chokes the motor and isnt a feasible combo per the V&H tech. Evidently they along with the motor guy claim my set-up cannot function properly trying to breath out of a 1 3/4 pipe. Claimed that the only 2-2 system they have that would work worth a crap with my setup would be the V&H Big Shot staggered with the power chamber and 2 1/8" stepped up pipe after the head pipes. The tech guy went so far as to to tell me that I'm leaving "Money" on the table by not going with the Pro-Pipe 2-1 or at least the 2-1 Big radius.;

I dunno.....

Maybe everything works a little different up here at 6,000 feet?

Needless to say the BS pipes with the baffles just wont work with what I have....Er' wont work very well.

I'm gonna go with either the BSS or Big Radius 2-1.

I have the dyno sheet frrom today showing the difference between baffled and unbaffled.

My scanner is on the fritz so I will take photos of the sheet along with posting up the new sheet with whatever pipes I go with and another tune.

Thanks for the help Gents!

Without getting too paranoid about the dealer who did the latest work, think about this...why do you think the baffles were out when you bought the bike? They didn't work! I would hesitate to call the dealer a crook over the internet knowing that your set up ripped(your words) before putting the baffles back in. I don't think if he fixed a problem he would not tell you about it and then say buy new pipes just to recoup lost money when he could have just charged you for the work in the first place. Don't know of anybody that would fix a problem for free that they didn't cause and then hope to sell you new pipes to make the money back on it! And if they did go back for all your work because that is unbelievably good customer service!!!!

The dealer has a good crew in the service dept. They did not install the baffles. My local indy did. They simply removed em' then dydnoed the bike to see what was what.

These guys have met all my demands including beating the price of my local indy motor guy by a few hundred dollars and went so far as to offer to match the price of a local indy direct link tune and chip deal with there SERT....

$500.00 to install and dyno the bike with an SERT? Did my motor work (Mill head, hand match oversized rings,Honed the cyclinders 3 angle valve job, adjustable pushrods, lil' hand head porting,Synth oil change) for $900.00 when everybody else was at $1200+ Even my local indy tuner thinks the motor guy down there is among the best so I think these guys are being fair.

I told the dealer I wasnt buying the pipes from them. They were cool with that. For 2 hours labor they diagnosed and dynoed the bike and will install the new pipes and dyno it for another hour?

I dunno. Maybe i'm retarded but I like the guys, so far they have been straight with me and havent tried to sell me a derned thing...Cept a few hours of labor at 20% off the $89.00 regular charge.

Went with the Big Shots staggered with the power chamber and the step up pipe size after the head pipes....

$399.99 from carson City Harley and $25.00 to ship. They are even tossing me a Carson City Harley shirt in the box. (Payment for this cheap forum plug)

Way cheaper than anything I could find.

Will post Dynos of old Big Shots w/baffles and without along with Big Shot staggereds.

Thanks Again Gents!

P.S...Anyone want a set of nice not beat up Big Shot standards with baffles fer cheap?

Here is a shot of em' on the bike.

The saga is almost over. Installed the V&H Big Shots staggered and the numbers and dyno graph went up significantly. Butt dyno says Night and day. Bike is now enroute to the tuner to squeeze out every little bit available.

Here are the graphs from the dyno so far with the 3 different scenarios.

Green is the standard big shots with baffles.
Red is the standard big shots no baffles
Blue is the Big Shots staggered with baffles.

The bike was tuned for the standard big shots with baffles.

Just to reiterate this is a 2005 Night Train with a 95" kit,211 cams, SE Intake, Milled heads, very mild port work, adjustable S&S P-rods, thin head gasket.

After its tuned I'm done. The bike rips and runs well right now without a tune for for the changes. Even if my numbers stay close to this I'm done fooling with it and ready to go ride the friggin thing!

This is what the dyno with standard big shots and baffles looked like before and after being tuned.

Even here it gained good power after the tune. I wont be so optimistic that I can get that gain over its 88/100 numbers now but if I do? Day-Um I will be stoked!
