Using oil?

I have an 06 Road King Custom, fuel injected. Seem like I am always adding oil to the bike. I can't tell that it is burning oil and I check the oil often...hot and cold checks by the book. I took the air filter off today and it was clean but there was a litttle bit of oil in the area behind the filter when it is off the bike. I'm no mechanic. can ya tell. Thanks

Some engines just use oil. If it's not smoking, has plenty of power, and isn't leaking it out on the ground don't worry about it.

Next time it needs 3/4 of a quart of oil, hold off and see if it goes down to a full quart low.
It wont hurt anything to run your bike while it is 3/4 of a quart low.
You may find out that if you leave it 3/4 of a quart low it will stay at that level.

If it isn't using oil, there's something wrong with it. ALL engines use or loose oil naturally. Either they burn or loose it in liquid form or by vapor form or both.
