I have a question for you guys who are running, or are familiar with the v&H 2-1 Propipe. Have you had any problems with the collector starting to yellow a little? I noticed it starting to yellow after riding Saturday, but I have ridden probably 500 miles or more since installing the new pipes and it just became slightly noticable Sat. I can see that my headpipes have no discoloration under the heatshields, so I assume that I am jetted correctly, I am running the 180 jet that v&H recommends. Is this a normal time frame for this to start? Is this a normal occurance with the propipe? I have heard it might be. Because I have an EVO, they do not offer the pro pipe HS (HS for collector heatshield). However, I did order a collector heatshield for mine, just havent installed, yet. Wanted to see how bad it was going to yellow, or blue first. One more final question...Will that yellowing move back into the megaphone, past the collector? Thanks in advance for the help
It may not get any worse than it is. My samsons turned a little gold at the
heads about 6" to 8" long. then stopped. been like that now for a few years.
Just a heat spot that i am not going to worry about.
Was searching this very subject and ran across your posts. I too enjoy the performance of the VnH pro pipel It made a noticeable difference in low and mid range.
I also installed the fuel pac hoping to dial in the fuel mixture and a void any discoloration.
I recently rode from the middle of Kanas to Reno NV. Met up with a friend in Grand Junction CO. He rides a 02 SE Road King. We are always conferring and discussing exhausts etc. He was anxious to see the Pro pipe on my bike.
I was shocked when he told me sounded good but the yellow wan't too appealing. On the muffler about where I imagine the baffle starts in the muffler body has turned a strong yellow color. I did ride seven hundred miles that day on the interstate setting the cruise at 75 mph.
I see VnH offers a blue proof system. Ive emailed them for for some advice. I would think the fuel pac would of fine tuned the fuel mixture and I would of avoided the discoloration. Not the case.. Maybe I ll try a product that takes the blueing off.
I would hope that the folks at VnH would offer a resolve. I think I can crap in one hand and wish in the other in that regard but I can hope.
I ll try to keep you guys updated on the progress of my dilema.
I m riding a 2003 Road King Classic. I put the SE breather on and had the map done. Had VnH wide ovals on. I was plauged with "Y" pipe issues. Found it and the mounting tabs cracked thee times in fifty thousand miles. Thought the Pro Pipe HS would be the answer to my "Y" pipe issue. Added the fuel pac to avoid the blueing.
