Default Another pushrod question..

When I tighten the lock nut on the pushrods, I run the locknut up tIght and then place one 1/2" wrench on the pushrod and one on the nut and squeeze together in my hand. The nut is already tight. As I squeeze, I feel it suddenly move a little extra. Its not stripped, but I'm concerned I may be distorting it a little. How tight do you guys get the nuts?

pretty tight as yo don't want them loosening. If they are the SE pushrods you actually need 3 wrenches 2 1/2" for the nuts and a smaller one I can't remember off the top of my head but I use it to hold the threaded rod from turning while I tightening the nuts.

As mtclassic stated, if they are SE's, you will need 3 wrenches...

1 to hold the upper rod, 1 for the locknut, and 1 for the base post (Goes to the lifter)...

The Upper and base MUST be held firmly, as this is your final setting (Slight drag at base, after 10 minutes of bleeddown)... The ONLY movement should be the wrench on the locknut as it is tightening.....

I am pretth sure that S&S has the same design... Just a coarser thread...

I actually did use three wrenches two 1/2" and one 3/8". Took it out today. Still noisey. Preload is .125" to .140". Not to bad just annoying. I'm just going to ride it and ignore the noise as much as I can.
