I have an 05 FXDWGI and got a Winter Special deal from my dealer. The one they offered was for a Touring bike, a 103 EFI Stage 1, but turns out they had to make up a kit for my WG, and they still gave me the special price.
It may be a little odd, but here is what I have:
103 Stroker Flywheel kit
103+ Cylinder Heads
HTCC Forged 10.5:1 Pistons
Compression releases
253 Cams (the ones that would be in the Stage 1 Touring bike)
SE A/C with Chrome backing plate, K&N filter
So, the 253 cam may be the odd part, and I did not really want the high compression, but I will give it a try. Also have 16 Gauge exhaust with V&H Quiet Baffles.
Once broken in I will have a SERT Dyno tune.
I also added the Premium Oil Cooler.
It was a very good deal, they upgraded heads / pistons for the same price as the Stage 1 103.
What I don't understand is why the motor companyclaims that these kits are for specific bikes.I mean, are'nt all twincams the same dimensions? Can I not take a SE 103 out of a touring bike and put it in a softail frame?I don't think that the 257's are odd at all.In fact,if you look at the SE catalog, the stage 4 big bore kit uses the 257's.They are great in the upper rpm range. With that getup you should be ripping your arms out of the socket around 3500-5000rpm.I'll bet when you tune it you go 112 hp, 104 torque.Or I'm way the hell off! Pleas let us know what you get out of it.Good choice on the oil cooler, especially with the high compression stuff.
