just installed new 2-1 supermeg with closed end cap & 20 discs sounds good maybe a little quiet but its raining here so cant take it for a run . could anyone tell me what it would sound like with open cap & 12 discs. i had a thunder header on before but on the highway after a 100 miles i had a headache. how does it compare to the thunderheader with an open cap? thanks BUTCH FIRST POST GREATINGS TO ALL
My info is that you start with a rich mix by using 12-14 discs and read the color for further refinement, usually adding to about 14-15. The Open end cap counts as 10 discs according to Supertrapp cusotmer service. The open end cap is necessary for dyno tuning. Heard anything different?
Was concerned about the dynoing w/the SERT. Not sure if the tech will play the extra disc variable. Your response and the Supertrapp rep seem to put me in the neighborhood ( 10 discs plus end cap?). Only got the open end cap 'cuz the dyno folks said they needed the opening. Like you, will probably add 7-8 discs and close it up.

Buy a spare end cap and let them drill the present closed end cap. I just had mine on the dyno and let the tech drill 2 holes so he could put both his sniffers in the pipes.
